There are so many interesting and helpful websites available for pregnancy and postpartum. Here is a list of just a few of the ones I find most useful.
Pregnancy and Birth:
Childbirth Collective, a non-profit organization made up of birth professionals in the twin cities dedicated to providing free information about doulas and birth. Donation based parent education nights are offered. These are a great addition to formal childbirth education classes.
HypnoBirthing-The Mongan Method is a unique method of relaxed, natural childbirth education, enhanced by self-hypnosis techniques.
Childbirth Connection, formerly Maternity Center Association, is a not-for-profit organization that has worked to improve the quality of maternity care since 1918. They promote safe, effective, and satisfying evidence-based maternity care. Evidence-based maternity care means using the best research about the safety and effectiveness of specific tests, treatments, and interventions to help you make informed decisions.
Evidence Based Birth's mission is to raise the quality of childbirth care globally, by putting accurate, evidence based research into the hands of families and communities, so they can make informed, empowered choices.
Spinning Babies website is a project of Gail Tully, CPM a homebirth midwife. Spinning Babies teaches about optimal fetal positioning and offers techniques to do prenatally and in labor. This is one of my favorites!
Lamaze Institute for Safe and Healthy Birth is a nonprofit organization that promotes a natural, healthy and safe approach to pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting. Knowing that pregnancy and childbirth can be demanding on a woman’s body and mind, Lamaze serves as a resource for information about what to expect and what choices are available during the childbearing years.
International Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN's) mission is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC).
Association for Prenatal & Perinatal Psychology and Health (APPPAH's)
mission is to educate professionals and the public about, and advocate for, the life-changing discoveries made in the area of prenatal and perinatal psychology and health.
Breastfeeding:
La Leche League of MN and the Dakotas invites all those breastfeeding and mothers-to-be interested in breastfeeding to come to La Leche League (LLL) meetings or call one of our Leaders for breastfeeding help or information. Babies are always welcome at LLL meetings.
